Cold is an independent portal for geopolitical and defense analysis established in 2026. The platform monitors the strategic and security dynamics of three critical quadrants for global defense: the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, and the Arctic. Through its English-language interface, Cold offers comprehensive coverage of current military and geopolitical developments in northern Europe, providing expert insights, policy monitoring, and timely analysis. Conversely, the Italian-language section provides a specialized focus on the operational role and contributions of the Italian Armed Forces within these northern regions.
Federico Mari
Founder and Chief Editor
Born in Rome, Federico Mari has steadily developed his expertise in international relations and defense affairs. In 2022, driven by a commitment to rigorous and timely geopolitical analysis, he launched project “Imminens” on Instagram, providing daily briefings on major conflict theaters across Europe and the Middle East. Since 2023, he has regularly contributed to national Italian newspapers and publications, including La Ragione and Linkiesta. In 2025, he graduated with top honors, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in History, Anthropology, and Religions from Sapienza University of Rome, focusing on Modern and Contemporary History. In 2026, leveraging his background in OSINT and strategic analysis, he founded Cold to contribute an independent, analytical perspective to the ongoing discourse on Northern European defense.
